Agrostemma githago |
 |
| Pretty bud with silver-hairy leaves |
Five-petaled flowers, hairy leaves and stems. An American wildflower. Didn't keep track of it the first year we grew it, and never noticed its flowers. This year, I did better - the results are shown on this page. Not a stunner, but nice woven into the mixed border.
|
| Next year, I tried to figure out what this "weed" was - until it realized it was self-seeded corn cockle. |

This plant used to grow in our garden, but it slipped away... One or more images of this plant are included in my stock photo catalog About my plant portraits

- Same seed as above. Baggy 70F (7d; 10%G, 4d) - 75F (10%G, 3-7d)
Seed apparently loses viability over a few years. A little warmth is helpful in germinating.
