Amsonia orientalis

Amsonia orientalis
Amsonia orientalis
Amsonia orientalis

Synonym(s) Rhazya orientalis
Family apocynaceae
Life cycle perennial (Z6-9)
Flowers blue (late spring-early summer)
Size 18-24"
Light sun-part shade

Native to Greece and Turkey. Resembles a small A. tabernaemontana, but has better (yellow) fall color. Compared to other amsonias, I noticed that the flowers are held within the clusters of leaves topping the stems, rather than above like most other amsonias.

We left this plant behind in our Pennsylvania garden (and wish it well); we don't grow it in Houston.
