Melittis melissophyllum 'Royal Velvet Distinction' |

| Year 4 flowers |
I received this plant by mail order in Spring 2008; it was sad and small, and I don't remember noticing it at all the rest of the season. Then I found that some online sources rate this hardly only to zone 7. So I was pleasantly surprised to see its re-emerging foliage in early May the next year. Flowers followed not too long afterwards. It has become a little more floriferous every year since then.

We left this plant behind in our Pennsylvania garden (and wish it well); we don't grow it in Houston. One or more images of this plant are included in my stock photo catalog About my plant portraits

They don't get very large and don't spread around, so they look best when a group of them are planted together. |
Elizabeth | May 19, 2015 | Ditto above. I think one year my plants rebloomed when I cut them back after first bloom, but I have not had consistent success with this. Has anyone else??
