Shrub to small tree, growing about as wide as it is tall. Its leaves have a similar curiously two-lobed shape as those of other bauhinias, but the flowers are different from the ones on our B. lunarioides and B. galpinii. It is winter-deciduous, and becomes a dieback shrub when hit by harsh winters – as happened after its first winter in our garden. Likes some shade in the afternoon heat in our Houston climate. Its white flowers attract many pollinators.
