From seed Needs 6 weeks cold treatment, then germinates at room temperature. Seedlings are finnicky, very susceptible to damp-off. Some years it self-seeds.

One of my favorite penstemons. Much larger flowers than most, on an upright plant with fresh green foliage.

  1. Seed from NARGS '17/'18 exchange. Baggy 70F with light (82%G, 5-8d). Also baggy 35F (4w) - 70F with light (27%G, 5-10d)
  2. Same seed as above. Baggy 70F with light (~20%G, 11-15d)
  3. Same seed as above. Baggy 70F with light (no G, 17d)
  4. Seed from NARGS '23/'24 exchange. Baggy 35F (6w; 30%G, 6w) - 70F (43%G, 5d)
