Galega orientalis

Galega orientalis
oriental goat's rue
Common name oriental goat's rue
Family fabaceae
Life cycle perennial
Flowers lavender
Seed ripenslate June

I ripped out the common goat's rue a few years ago, but I'm still hanging on to the oriental species to see what it will do. So far, we get lush, popping-green foliage every spring, the plants hang in there all season - but I've never noticed flowers. Possibly because the area where they are planted is a bit of a jungle, but more likely it just hasn't found the right conditions yet. I plan on giving it a new location next year (it's parked in the veggie garden for now), and maybe it will respond with some blooms.

We left this plant behind in our Pennsylvania garden (and wish it well); we don't grow it in Houston.

Seed for this plant is included on my seed trade list
