Allison (November 06, 2023) Rob, I use your site often. It is by far one of the best sources of seed propagation information that is backed by experience. I love it. I was so thrilled to see a posting from this year (2023). That means your work continues, as does your meticulous record-keeping. I sincerely appreciate your graciousness in sharing.

Mary Ellen Gambutti (July 21, 2023) Oh gosh! We never met when we lived in PA. When we were in Horsham I took Hort. with Stephanie Cohen at Temple, Ambler, and worked at Meadowbrook when John Storey and Lyddon Pennock were there. We moved to Springfield twp., Bucks Cty., at the topmost point where Bucks, Lehigh, and Northampton counties connect. It was a turn of the century farm home in the village of Passer. We immediately dug out much of the lawn .5 acre, and turned it into beds and borders. It was a dream-come-true. Set up a 400sq ' hoop house and grew cut field cutflowers and ran a perennial garden design, installation, and maintenance business for about 15 years total.sorry to go on like this but seeing your pages brings back memories--all the gardens you mentioned. Add Wave Hill in NY. I'm 72 now, and have been disabled after a stroke at 57. Now I write and remember. All the best, Mary Ellen (Lewes, DE)

John (May 25, 2023) I love these plants (Solanum pyracanthos)- Porcupine Tomato. I purchase 2 plants over 18 years ago from a nursery in Palo Alto, California. I now live on the East Bay, East of San Francisco/Oakland, almost next to Stockton. These plants thrive in my heavy clay soil. I water them when I can or when their leaves droop a bit. As the plant gets older, they get spindly. You need to wear thick gloves when pruning, to keep them bushy. I fertilize them when I fertilize the rest of my plants with Miracle Gro. I have these planted in my front yard as well in pots. I mix them in with my more expensive plants just in case somebody wants to steal. My cats like to hide underneath them as dogs can reach in to get them. They love the sun and will thrive with some care. My plants have grown to 5 feet wide and about 3 feet high.
