No glandular feature on the style above its base | June 26, 2010. Today I undertook a project that had been on my to-do list for a while: figuring out if any of the plant species in my garden that arrived as Adenophora (either as plants or as seed) are in fact members of that genus. They can be distinguished from their close cousins, the campanulas, by dissecting a flower and looking at the base of the style. Since they're all blooming, today was the moment of truth. Sadly, it turns out all of my supposed adenophoras are campanulas (I don't know which ones). You can read about my project on the new Adenophora Project page. |
