In addition, editors can themselves add sites to Unreviewed -- either directly,
or by moving them from Reviewed. The latter often occurs when sites that have
been previously listed (i.e. those in the Reviewed state) become inaccessible
-- they can be moved out of the public view for later inspection by an editor.

Editors can publish sites from Unreviewed to Reviewed in any category they
have permissions in. Doing so ensures that the sites appear as part of the directory
 for use by others.

No editor owns a category

Although the category in which an editor has privileges in is commonly referred
to as "their category", they do not own it. That is to say, they cannot
make major changes without the consensus of their colleagues. This is generally
 achieved via the Editor Fora.

Continuing this theme, no editor has exclusive rights in categories they have
privileges for. Editors with permissions in parent categories, or those with
editall or above privileges, are entitled, and indeed are encouraged, to edit
 in these categories as well.

Public-side vs. Edit-side

Put simply, the 'public-side' of the Directory is any area that does not require
an editor account to view. Conversely, the 'editor-side' is any area that does
require an editor account to view.

Some parts of the directory have a public-side view and an editor-side
view. For example, the public-side of the Home/ category is shown below left,
and the edit-side is below right:

Home/ - Public-side view.

Home/ - Edit-side view.

The former is accessible to everyone and allows the category's
contents to be viewed and navigated; the latter is accessible only to editors
with appropriate permissions, and allows the category's contents to be altered.
