Elements of the Editing Interface Disappear or Appear Corrupted

Problem

Editors using non-English locales are presented with a corrupted editing interface -- certain components may be missing or garbled, text labels may be missing, and / or the internal names of the interface strings may appear instead of their appropriate translations.

Solution

This occurs when the compilation of the language strings database fails. You will probably find that it is already being discussed in the Bugs and Features forum, but if not consider bumping an existing thread such as http://forums.dmoz.org/forum/threaddisplay.cgi?t=Forum21/HTML/003315.html .

Note: when new interface strings are added, editors using non-English locales are supposed to see them in English until they have been translated for the editor's locale. Occasionally this doesn't happen. As a result you may find that a specific part of a specific editing script looks peculiar. The best solution is to ensure that the new string is translated -- World/<Language>-level editors can do themselves, others will have to contact an editor at that level of their category and request that they make the necessary change.
