Seed ripensmid-July

Slender spikes of violet flowers held in burgundy calyces. When planted in part shade, I've found that it has a rather lax habit in our garden, while it grows more upright in full sun. The leaves are fairly typical of salvia, dullish green with mostly smooth edges, arranged in opposite pairs.

We left this plant behind in our Pennsylvania garden (and wish it well); we don't grow it in Houston.

Seed for this plant is included on my seed trade list
