The only azalea in our garden. We bought one, and promptly lost it in a bad drought. We bought another one, put it in the same spot, and a few years later, another drought nearly did it in - but somehow it scratched itself back from near-death, and now is once again in beautiful bloom. We're glad we didn't just dig it up when it seemed dry and lifeless...

Lori Schubert | Mar 22, 2011 | In my garden (Long Island, NY) this plant does fantastically well, even in south-facing gardens. When I moved to this house, there was a long line of Stewartsonians that were horribly sculpted into tall gumballs. I cut them back hard to about 18 inches tall, and they grew back within two seasons to good-sized, blooming plants. A nearly-all-dead plant in a west facing garden responded similarly well, and is now about 4 feet tall. |
Teresa | May 09, 2011 | I live in Windsor, Ontario, (Zone 5)I love this rhododendron, but have been told it will not tolerate a high windy location (west facing location, I've also been told it will be fine. They are $64.00 each and I need 3; therefore, want any advice before I buy that many. Yeah, that's a sizable investment. Unfortunately, I can't give you an informed answer: ours is in a fairly sheltered location between larger shrubs. |
carol | May 25, 2013 | I bought 3 Stewartsonian azaleaas at Home Depot yesterday (5/24/13) for $3.69 each. |
