detailed seed-starting info below

Low-growing, mat-forming species. Our seed came from the Nisqually Cream variety, which has creamy white flowers rather than the blue of the plain species – but the offspring has reverted to blue. The flowers are so small (maybe a quarter inch long), I had to do a double-take when I noticed them coming into bloom in mid-May. Definitely the smallest-flowered penstemon I've grown thus far. Still, the effect of a plant with multiple flowering stems will be quite nice.

We left this plant behind in our Pennsylvania garden (and wish it well); we don't grow it in Houston.
