A seed-grown selection from Jelitto, of a plant native to the Balkans and Romania.
Features evergreen bluish-green basal leaves and statice-like white blooms on sturdy stalks. Ours didn't bloom until their third year, but their leaves already added interest in the previous year. In the years since then, the plants have only become more robust and spectacular, making quite a statement in late June.

Long leaves draped languorously over adjacent rocks in mid-November
lavender statice
and not all that much worse for the wear in mid-March, after the months-long snow cover receded
Goniolimon incanum 'Sea Spray'
Individual flowers open up in succession, so that the spray stays white for a long time

We left this plant behind in our Pennsylvania garden (and wish it well); we don't grow it in Houston.

Seed for this plant is included on my seed trade list
